The company was founded in 2016 by Cade Baillie, who switched to interior plastering during the 2008 recession after working as a boat builder since 2002.

Over the years, CB Plastering has grown from a one-man band to a team of experienced and junior members.

The company has established long-term working relationships with numerous builders and construction companies in Whangarei, making it a reliable choice for all your plastering needs.

FQA

How many days do you allow for fixing?

Residential - We allow 3 consecutive days for every 100sq2 off the floor (based on a standard 2.4m stud height house, clean site, gib stacked site).

Commercial - Please contact us to further discuss.

How many days do you allow for stopping?

Small to medium jobs can be about 5 consecutive days.

New builds depending on complexity (based on a 2.4m stud height) can be around 5-7 consecutive days per 100sq2 off the floor.

(eg: 250sq2 house can take up to 10-14 consecutive days)

Full skimming on a house depending on the condition of the walls (based on a 2.4m stud height) can be around 7 consecutive days per 100sq2 off the floor.

How much dust is involved?

Our vacuum sander usually removes about 80% of the dust from the surface and air, unfortunately, dust comes with the job.  We try our best to clean the areas that we work in but we cannot guarantee a dust-free house during and on completion.

What is your availability?

We have about 6 weeks of scheduling ahead of us.  The sooner you reach out the better.

If you have a smaller job such as a room or patch repair. Often, we can fit you into our program if we are working in your area.  Just give us a bell to see if we can fir you into our schedule and on your timeline.

How long does it take to dry?

12-24 hours for each coat (sometimes even longer).

You have many factors to take into account.  Not every home is the same so drying times can take longer than others.

Poorer conditions for drying time:

  • Cold/wet weather (this is usually the case in most homes)

  • Age of house (condition of gib might be poor)

  • Poor circulation

  • Positioning of the house (eg: facing South where you get minimum to no light or warmth)

  • Lack of insulation and heating

What is the process?

Keeping the steps simple so you get a general understanding:

1) Tape the joints and internal corners.

2) One coat of plaster.

3) Sand.

4) Second coat of plaster.

5) Sand.

6) The final coat of plaster.

7) Measured, cut, and fix cove or square stop.

8) Final sand, light check, and a recheck for any missed areas or repairs if necessary.

What if my site is not ready for the scheduled start date?

Communication is essential for the success of any project, no matter the size. It's importance to keep us informed about the progress of your project.  Please note that due to high demand, our books are currently booked for 6 weeks in advance. We kindly ask you to keep this in mind when confirming your dates for works to start.

Preparing your site

Before we enter your property especially to those that are occupied at the time. There are a few things you must do to help make it a safe, good working environment.

Access to properties

We understand that communication is crucial, and we are always ready to cater to your requests when it comes to accessing your property, without compromising our schedule and staff. Our extensive work around schools and retirement villages is a testament to our commitment to safety and trust, and we ensure that all staff are screened, and police vetted for your peace of mind.

Trip Hazards

Let's talk about safety in the workplace! Did you know that trip hazards are one of the biggest in the trades industry? But don't worry, as the occupier, you can take steps to eliminate or minimize these hazards. Keep accessways, floors, and stairs clear of loose objects, and make sure children and animals are kept in safe, secure areas away from workers. By taking these simple precautions, you can help create a safer work environment for everyone involved.

Personal Property

Clearing the room and areas that we need access to is essential for our team to work efficiently. We kindly request you to remove and secure your property to ensure a smooth process. Please note that our team is not responsible for moving furniture and other items in your house.

Dust

Please note that while we strive to clean your property to the best of our abilities after each visit, we cannot guarantee a completely dust-free environment. It is normal for dust particles to settle on furniture over the course of a few days to a week. With proper and regular housekeeping, this should improve over time.

Occupied properties

Closing all the doors in your house that our workers do not need access not only keeps your property a bit more secure, but it also helps reduce dust travelling throughout the house.  If you're going to be home, try and avoid these areas while we work.

Your fur babies need to be secured.

To ensure the safety of our workers, we kindly ask you to keep your pets, especially dogs, away from them. Please secure your animals in a safe area where they won't interact with our team. This way, our workers can enter your property safely and proceed to their work areas.

Water and power

Our staff require access to water and power on your property to work efficiently. If there is any issue on site where water or power supply is turned off, please notify us as soon as possible so we can make other arrangements.

Housekeeping

It's always important to leave a clean and tidy workspace. Our staff will ensure to clean up after themselves and dispose of any rubbish off-site if there's no skip available on-site.
